Genealogical tables of the introduced Swedish nobility (in Swedish)
by Gustaf Elgienstierna
Gustaf Elgienstierna's genealogical tables, published between 1925 and 1936, is incomparably the largest and most important genealogical reference work in Sweden. The lost of persons is the largest in Swedish literature, comprising close to 90,000 references, not counting the nobility. This gives a hint to what a mine of information this grand work is to all genealogists and historians.
For sure, it is easy to believe that a genealogical work named “Genealogical tables of the Swedish nobility” only concerns people of noble birth or with noble relatives. However, that is far from the truth. The best proof is th fact that the tables comprise almost 100,000 people not belonging to any Swedish noble family. Priests, burghers, peasants, officials, soldiers – in short, common Swedes.
